Dr. Yu Qian Ang

Dr. Yu Qian Ang is an Assistant Professor (Presidential Young Professor) at the National University of Singapore. His career spans academia, government, and entrepreneurship. He holds a PhD in Architecture (Building Technology) from MIT and an MPhil from the University of Cambridge (Gates Scholar). He currently leads an interdisciplinary group (www.citysyntax.io) working on urban sustainability, including energy, thermal comfort, health, and equity, with the developed methods and tools used across cities. Yu Qian's work has been published in journals including Nature Cities, Nature Communications, Sustainable Cities and Society, and Applied Energy. Before his academic career, he served as Senior Assistant Director at Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry, contributing to the development of Singapore's S$19 billion national science and technology masterplan. He has also consulted for the World Bank on urban data science workstreams. Yu Qian has also co-founded two startups.
